Kirkhill Primary School

A busy start to Term 4!

Welcome back! We’ve had a small class so far this week as chickenpox is doing the rounds… Even with only 14 of us we’ve been very busy thinking about our new ‘Under the Sea’ topic and remembering our sounds and number work from last term. We’re on a mission to see if we can spell all our P1 words and worked beautifully on these using rainbow writing. We’ll be working on different words each week and making sure we can confidently spell them all.  Our P1 words are: a, and, he, I, in, is, it, of, that, the, to, was. We’ll be looking at money this term so have also been playing with coins this week; our goal is to recognise some coins and begin to understand their value.

We took a look at our planet and found out there is SO much water covering it. We found out the names of the four oceans and made our own maps that showed where these are. We’ve been fishing for shells and treasure and have had lots of fun making our own under the sea props! If you have any books at home about the sea or the creatures that live there, we’d love them to come to school for us all to enjoy!
