Dark is Exciting…

Our learning this week has taken us on some new adventures as mystery letters have been appearing in our classroom with information we’ve had to discover.  We’ve figured out the letters are from an owl called Plop who wants us to find out all about the world when the sun goes down.

We started by deciding what we thought Plop would like to know about first and voted for owls and bats (and other nocturnal animals).  We’ve worked hard to find out about owls and what they like to eat, making our own dinner plates for Plop. We then found out more about other creatures that come out at night and will continue finding out about them in the coming week.

If your child has any books/toys that are linked to the topic of nighttime animals, it’d be great for them to bring them in to share.

Take a look at all the learning we’ve been up to!

We have heard all about Plop’s letters. Robbie is keen to talk about it at home which is great, normally he comes home and tells us he hasn’t done much but Plop is a real talking point.

Jack has told me he enjoyed learning about owls. He has told me that they have 14 bones in their neck 🙂 Im glad I know now who Plop is as I have heard a lot about him but wasn’t too sure quite what it was!

Jack seems to be loving the idea there’s an owl watching us and sending messages! He’s convinced he can hear Plop at the window while we’re working!

Lucas was very excited to tell us about Plop and thinks its funny that bats sleep hanging upside down! He remembered what nocturnal meant.

Well done Lucas! I wonder if you can remember the word that is used to describe animals that come out in the daytime?

Ha ha he gave it a good go! Sounded more like a type of dinosaur. Hard to pronounce so we will just call it dayturnal!
