Disappearing Water!

As part of our ‘Under the Sea’ topic, we’ve been thinking about the salty sea and where the salt came from. We set ourselves a challenge to see if we could get the salt out of the sea so we created a salty solution and left it for a few days.  The water disappeared and there in the dish was salt! We then created Puddle Monsters in the playground and when we went back outside they had shrunk or disappeared completely… I wonder where the water went?  See if your child can explain this magical science.

The water disappeared into the air is Fins answer.
He says they didn’t get taught that answer (either that or he didn’t pick it up/remember)

Good answer Fin! We did read about the water cycle but maybe another wee chat about it might be useful!

Jack said his puddle monster disappeared. He says the water went to the sky as the sky collects water to make rain.

Carlin went a bit of topic…properbly because he did’nt know the answer but this is what I got from him.

The puddles water goes back in the air.

Water cycle- The rain falls and goes on to the rocks that has salt on and then it gets washed away to the sea and that is why the sea water is salty.

Ally made puddle monsters on our patio this weekend. Ally says the water evaporates and then goes into the air.

Rebekka says that the puddle monsters went into the clouds. When the clouds gets too heavy it will start raining.
