Eco Schools

The Eco-Committee members at Kirkhill Primary School during 2016-17 session are:

P1 – Sam & Robbie              P2 – Morven & Harry

P3 –Louie & Isaac              P4 – Archie & Sarah C

P5 – Lydia &  Matthew      P6 –Christie & Angus S

P7 – Adam, Struan & Macci

P3-P7 were voted into post by their fellow class mates after presenting a talk on why they would make a suitable candidate.

The Eco-Committee’s role is to ensure we continue to fly our Eco School flag. We recently obtained our 4th Green Flag, this is a fabulous achievement.  We meet twice a month to discuss Eco matters in and around our school.

The Eco-Committee ensure the smooth running of:

  • Compost collection (daily)
  • Litter picks (3 times a week)
  • Waste paper collection (daily)
  • Bird Feeding (various depending on weather)

At Kirkhill we have 13 citizenship groups who meet once a month.  Many of these groups, help feed into the Eco School’s 10 topics.  These topics are: (click on headings below)

Litter; School Grounds; Sustaining Our World; Bio Diversity; Food and the Environment; Waste Minimisation; Transport; Energy and Water

We have conducted our Environmental Review on each of the 10 topics.  These results are displayed on the Eco School’s Noticeboard.

From this review we have selected the following areas for Action:
