Measuring fun in the forest

What a chilly start to the week! It was great to see so many of you with warm boots, layers of clothes, hats, gloves and scarves. It’s so much more fun when we are warm and cosy so PLEASE dress your child appropriately  EVERY Monday morning! If you have any spare warm or waterproof clothing that you would like donate to the school we would love to start a box of things we can use for outdoor learning if someone forgets to bring appropriate clothing.

Today we were thinking all about measure again! We…

… used our metre sticks to measure and compare different objects in the woods.

…created tiny pictures from twigs and asked our partner to copy it using HUGE sticks.

… played pine cone petanque and used lots of measure words to describe our throws.

We had lots of time in the sunshine to play and warm up too as it was really cold under all of the trees! It was great to link our learning to our space project too. We noticed the sun come up and how its position moved and the way it melted the ice throughout the morning.

Thank you to those who have offered to help on Monday mornings. We still need a few more volunteers so please return the dates slip if you do have any free time. We still need a second parent to accompany us next Monday too. Thanks to Morag for stepping in today! 🙂
