Kirkhill Primary School

Phonics Fun!

This week we started to explore the different sounds we need to begin our journey as readers and writers. We will work on two or three sounds each week but these are not taught in alphabetical order! Check the blog and your child’s Home Learning folder to see which sounds we’re working on each week.

The aim is not to be able to write the sounds but to hear them when we speak and begin spotting them in books and in the world around us.

This week we started with s and a (we had so much fun with these two sounds we decided to leave ‘t’ until next week). The video link below shows you ALL the songs that help teach the sounds so feel free to have a family sing-along at home. Please don’t get too carried away and learn all the songs – just stick to the sounds we’re working on at school as that will help reinforce the work we’re doing each week, thank you!

This video is a great help for Hudson. We can go over the sounds again and again ….

They’re very catchy! You might find yourself singing them when out and about so watch out?!
